So I am half way in, and have experienced everything from wild withdrawls to euphoric empowerment, thus far. The first week was full of cravings, nausea and often times, bewilderment, as I was de-toxing from a lifetime full of sugar dependency, and frequently felt very weak, physically and mentally. My body was MAD, and monkey mind was fighting harder than ever to lure me back to my unhealthy food and beverage addictions. What keeps me going is the knowledge and support I receive everyday from the Kambeitz team, arming me with information that guides me through restaurants, buffets, grocery stores, cooking in my kitchen, weekend work outs on my own, and finding and maintaining the quiet head space to DO all of this, and with the confidence one needs to do it successfully. I look forward to the remain
We got a nice email in today from David Vanderpool, an 8WW finisher and frequent attendee at our gym. We’re happy to see that all your hard work has paid off and hope you’re enjoying the powder David!!!
Putting your ski and snowboard readiness program into practice this week at Jackson Hole.
Thanks for all of your encouragement!
Could not be here without 8WW!
As we’ve said before, people join our 8WW program, or come to our personal trainers with different goals. The goals fuel the “why” – which is the underlying motivation that working out will help you accomplish.
Recently, one of our long time patients, Jill made the trip to Peru. In anticipation of her travels she made the time to visit our gym and personal trainers. Based on her hiking goals, a workout regiment was designed, and we were delighted to hear her results.
Great job Jill, and thanks for sporting the KCHWC t-shirt in Peru!
We were planning a trip to Peru, including a hike up to the top of Wayna Picchu, the peak that soars above Machu Picchu. It’s almost 1,000 feet above Machu Picchu, almost all rock steps and switchbacks, with few rails to assist you. Although I had been getting chiropractic care at Kambeitz Chiropractic for quite some time, I hadn’t focused on getting in shape. When I mentioned the upcoming hike, they recommended working with the trainers to make it a possibility!
I couldn’t have asked for a better team to get me to my goal! I actually enjoyed the hike, the gorgeous views and my feeling of accomplishment. I expected to be extremely sore the next day, but wasn’t! We hiked several more ruins during our trip (Ollantaytambo was another ruin with lots of steps to climb around) and I had no problems.
Thanks again to everyone, I know I couldn’t have done it without you.
Celebrating 1 Year of Weight Loss and Lifelong Improvements in Wellness
One year in, and we’re excited to see how lives have changed for the participants of 8 weeks to wellness. For years Dr Kambeitz would talk to patients how they could change their lifestyle to improve their health. In the past, he would see patients workout but never improve their health, and diet to only gain the weight back. This was the inspiration to expand the clinic, adding a gym and a myo therapy bay, and bring in the 8 weeks to wellness program at his clinic.
540 Pounds and We’re Just Getting Started!
In the past year we’ve been tracking the weight loss of our program’s participants week by week, individual by individual. In exactly one year, participants have lost 540 pounds. That’s no small feat! But 8ww is not just about losing weight. Diet programs pull off the weight quickly, and the dramatic results are because of losses of lean body mass and water weight. Starvation diets do not improve the body’s cellular health. 8ww educates participants to eat correctly, and work out correctly, to replace body fat with lean muscle mass.
Sure, maybe weight loss results would be even higher if we weren’t replacing body fat with lean muscle mass, but then there wouldn’t be the same improvements in health and well being that our patients tell us about. Read our testimonials and see our before and after photos from 8WW.
When the Rolling Stones sang, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” they weren’t talking about 8WW.
Before new patients participate in 8WW we ask them to write down five health goals they would like to work for and achieve. This is an important part of the program. You have to have a reason why, written down, and easy to remind yourself, during those hot, hour long, high intensity interval workouts, coming your way within a few short weeks.
These health goals vary from patient to patient…
“I want to reduce or stop taking my blood pressure medication.”
“I want to lose 20 pounds.”
“I want to be able to run an entire 5k.”
“I want to wear the same dress size I wore five years ago.”
Next to each item write down the reason why you want this for yourself. It’s not just about losing 20 pounds, but how that will change your life. Will it bring you more energy to keep up with your kids or grand kids? Or is it to reduce and prevent diseases that run in your family, from heart disease to cancer?
When you know what you want and why you want it, each workout is just a step closer to reaching your goal and improving the quality of your life.
If you’re ready to start working towards your goals, we welcome you to join our upcoming wellness talk, on Wednesday July 31st at 6:15pm. Give us a call, and we’ll save you a front row seat!
Are you frustrated with not seeing results from your workouts? There are many reasons for this. A diagnostic tool that we use in our clinic is called Bioimpedance Analysis (BIA). It will give us many results of which two are Lean Body Mass and Fat Mass. This test is done on your initial evaluation so we get an understanding of your percentages. We also do this test half way through your program. When we compare week one to week four results we can adjust as needed. We look at your food choices and your exercise choices to determine which may be the cause of your lack of results. This a great test that can be done on anybody regardless of their participation in our 8 Weeks to Wellness program. Please ask for your Bioimpedance Analysis on your next visit!
I’m talking about a movement to get people off the couch or getting out from behind the computer and getting some motion into their life!
Movement is life. Either you move it or you lose it!
Check out these statistics of calories burned for the average 155 person for one hour of activity.
- 176 calories during a slow walk,
- 563 calories during a 12 minute mile jog,
- 422 calories light cycling,
- 387 calories light stationary cycling,
- 633 calories on a stair climber
To lose one pound of fat you have to burn 3500 calories.
Once you know your basal metabolic rate you can determine the calorie deficit you need to create each day to accomplish your weight loss goal.
Let’s say you want to lose one pound per week. You would have to create a 500 calorie deficit per day. This can be achieved by modifying your diet and by burning calories during activity. The technology in our office will calculate your basal metabolic rate, your fat mass and your muscle mass.
Need help getting moving? Our personal trainers know just what to do! Tell us your goals and we will help you achieve them!
In less than a year, the 8WW participants at Kambeitz Chiropractic Health and Wellness Center PC, have lost 400 pounds – a very impressive feat!
Each week participants weigh in and track their progress to their personal goals. Most patients start with the 8 week program that pulls together chiropractic, exercise, nutrition, massage, and meditation.
After eight weeks is up, most of our 8 weeks to wellness graduates continue a maintenance program to keep up the lifestyle they adapted to during the program. Once goals are reached, new goals are made. Check out some of our before and after photos as well as testimonials.
Thank you to the 8WW participants for your hard work and dedication to reach your weight loss and wellness goals. This mile marker for our our clinic isn’t possible without your hard work each and every workout!
Come join us! Here is our gym schedule
The doctors and staff and Kambeitz Chiropractic is proud to announce that this week, the program has surpassed another milestone – Over 300 pounds have been lost by program participants since the program launched in August 2012!
At the same time each week 8WW participants weigh in and we record their progress.
The program which combines, exercise and proper nutrition is conducive to reaching many health & wellness goals. Some patients start the program because they don’t want chronic pains to limit their activities, others are there to lose weight, others are looking for an all encompassing program that will help them change their lifestyle.
Program participants have ranged from all ages, body shapes and fitness goals. We have had people from their 20s to their 70s participate. We have had patients who only needed to lose a couple pounds to patients who wanted (and did) lose more… even 25 pounds!
Come check out the thermometer and before & after photos on our 8WW wall of fame, located between the front desk and gym.
And of course we want to congratulate the patients who are working hard, losing weight, and changing their lives. It’s truly inspiring to see firsthand how patients are feeling better and reaching new accomplishments that they didn’t even expect, through 8WW!
