Each year we have hundreds of patients mention knee pain or come in specifically after a knee injury. Chiropractic treats all the joints in the body and not just the back, so we have treatment that can alleviate pain and accelerate healing for knee pain and knee injuries.
Examining the Nerves Surrounding the Knee
One of the first things that we’ll do is look at how the nerves are firing and functioning with our scanning tool. The nerves control the energy to the knee area, which affects the rehabilitation to the knee area.
The Knee is Interconnected
We’ll also look if the hip and ankle joints are moving correctly, as they affect each other from the ankle up to knee down. If those joints are limited, such as rotation in the hip, the knee will be affected and prone to pain or re injury.
Treating Knee Range of Motion
In addition to adjusting the back, hips, and ankles that are contributing to the knee pain, we use our adjustment instrument to work on the range of motion. The instrument taps 12 times per second and when used on restricted tissue, it will work through to regain a normal range of motion.
The shoulder joint is a freely moving joint which makes it susceptible to certain injuries.
At our Centennial Colorado chiropractic clinic, we treat patients young and old, including athletes, who are experiencing shoulder pain.
As an alternative form of medicine we take a different approach than some other medicine professionals when treating shoulder pain.
The Initial Evaluation of Shoulder Pain
We use our spinal scanning device to measure muscle tension, which direction the muscles are pulling, and if there is heat and inflammation present with the shoulder injury.
We also evaluate x-rays to see how the nerves are functioning and firing. As you age, the disc space between your vertebrae shrinks and impedes the nerves’ ability to function and fire correctly.
How the Shoulder Joint Works
The nerve controls the joint’s function, mobility, and muscles.
We evaluate the location where the shoulder pain, as well as adjoining structures, including the shoulder joint, collar bone and shoulder blade. We will focus beyond the area of pain from the spine to the structures adjoining the shoulder.
Most patients with shoulder pain will have a limited range of motion as they stand straight and rotate their neck to look over their shoulder. A full range of motion allows you to look directly over your shoulder. Most people only have half of that range of motion as they look in either direction.
When your range of motion from your neck impeded, the nerves from your spine cannot fire correctly through the shoulder and arm.
Treating Shoulder Pain with our Computerized Instrument Adjustment
We have a computerized instrument adjustment that delivers 12 gentle oscillating taps per second, available at the clinic to treat various conditions including shoulder pain, by improving the range of motion so that nerves can fire correctly. Our chiropractors will place the instrument on the cervical spinal column, as well as the muscles that surround the shoulder, and lead you through the full range of motion of the shoulder while the instrument gently taps. The chiropractor will lead you through the full range of shoulder motion including internal and external rotation, abduction, flexion and extension.
Most patients need a few treatments to their treat shoulder pain, as each treatment progressively decreases muscle tension, range of motion improves, and nerves begin to fire correctly again, and ultimately decreasing pain.
Chiropractic is for everyone! Our patient Janice is 90 years young, and comes in for her adjustments. She can easily be mistaken as decades younger than her actual age. Congrats Janice, we are pleased to be part of your wellness lifestyle!
Starting Tuesday, April 14th, our office hours will be expanding. This includes our training hours and our adjusting hours. We live in a country where health and insurance costs continue to grow. When many feel pain, they wait a few days to decide if they should go to a doctor or if it will simply go away.
Chiropractic, in many cases is a solution for a full range of medical conditions and nuisances. By aligning joins so that the nervous system can work efficiently and effectively our bodies get the opportunity to heal themselves before activating a whole surgery team ready with scalpels. And, as this image from the American Chiropractic Association, puts into perspective, usually at a lower cost to the patient.
Did you know that October is National Chiropractic Health Month?
The theme for this month, put on by the American Chiropractic Association is “Conservative Care First!” A conservative approach to pain management and health enhancement is both sensible and effective.
As they explain, “for years, many patients would find relief through conservative forms of care such as chiropractic services only after unsuccessfully trying a range of other, more complex and riskier treatments. Today, that approach has been reversed, with more medical research and guidelines supporting the idea that patients should exhaust conservative approaches to pain management before moving on to other options.”
Unfortunately for those who started with riskier treatments, they may have experienced adverse side effects from their first choice in treatments – ranging from the use of steroids, pain medication, and painful, or sometimes repeat surgeries.
An interesting statistic about the power of chiropractic care…
Those who see a chiropractor have
60.2% less hospital admissions
59% less days in a hospital
62% less outpatient surgeries
85% less pharmaceutical costs
compared to those who do not visit a chiropractor!

Each October the focus is for the early detection and treatment of breast cancer, rather than prevention. We know about the importance of mammograms and self-breast examinations, and are grateful for radiation and surgical treatments that save lives.
Yet we must remember that early detection and treatment of breast cancer is in NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, a means to prevent breast cancer. So, let’s talk about prevention. Here are just a few suggestions:
Exercise, exercise, exercise. Adipose tissue (fat) manufactures estrogen in the body and breast cancer is an estrogen dependent tumor. Therefore the more fat cells you have, the more estrogen you make and the higher chances you have for developing an estrogen dependent tumor. 30 minutes per day is best.
Maintain a Body Mass Index (BMI) below 30. After menopause, obese women (over 30 BMI) have double the risk of breast cancer compared to women with a normal BMI. We can coach you to drop the weight with proper nutrition and exercise, through our 8WW program. The 8WW program can be adjusted for people of all fitness levels and ages to benefit from.
Burn away abdominal fat. The worst place to carry fat is around your middle. Your waist measurements should be less than 35” if you are a woman and less than 40” if you are a male. A high amount of abdominal fat is linked to breast cancer. If you haven’t visited our gym yet, get a complimentary personal training session to learn how to build your core strength.
Eat healthy consistently. Eats lots and lots of cruciferous vegetables. Cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli and brussels sprouts, contain a substance called “indole-3-carbinol”. This substance is a proven anti-oxidant and improves the detoxification of estrogen in the body. Flax seed and soy products are also important in balancing hormones in the female body. Our 8WW program focuses on making healthy eating decisions part of your everyday lifestyle.
Don’t accept breast cancer to be your destiny, even if you have family history. Your mind set is probably the single most important deterrent of cancer that your body has. Believe that your body has the power to heal, and it will.
Improve your immune system with regular chiropractic adjustments. Not only do adjustments boost your immune system, it enhances every aspect of well-being. Schedule your next adjustment with one of our three doctors at 303-790-6000.
