Guest Speaker: Learn to Detox your Body

clear_change3Detox your body

Every day we are exposed to toxic chemicals.  Whether it is from the gas fumes we breathe, the pesticides in the food we eat or the tap water we drink.  A study recognized 287 different chemicals found in the human body!  This list includes gasoline, bisphenol A, lead and mercury.  It’s no wonder we are so unhealthy as a nation.  Take control of your health and help your body rid itself of these toxic chemicals.  Now it can be done in as little as 10 days.
Do you want more energy, more mental clarity?  Do you want to sleep better and have less muscles aches?  Do you have fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome?  If so, this 10 day detox program is for you!

To learn more and to get answers to all your questions please attend our presentation on Wednesday, February 18th at 6:00 PM.  Our Metagenics rep, Mike Day, will be discussing the benefits and science behind this detox program.  A $20 deposit will be collected to hold your seat and will then be applied to your program.
See you there!!

Introducing Laser Therapy

old man sore backIn our desire to stay on the cutting edge of technology we now offer Class IV laser therapy to our patients.  Why have we done this you may ask?  Laser therapy is a modality that can have profound benefits for pain management and tissue healing.  These benefits can be seen in bone, muscle, tendon and ligaments.  Laser therapy works by increasing blood supply to the involved tissue and actually healing the injured cells.  These injured cells are targeted because the damaged cells are more accepting of the infrared laser light than healthy cells.  All injuries such as sprains and strains, overuse injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome, traumatic injuries such as car accidents and even chronic issues such as degeneration and arthritis respond great to laser therapy.  If you have an injury that is not healing as fast as you want, laser therapy is for you.

We should all be grateful and give thanks throughout the year. During Thanksgiving we should be extra grateful and thankful!  At Kambeitz Chiropractic we are taking this opportunity to thank our patients and give generously to a great cause.  In Colorado 1 in 5 children deal with hunger on a daily basis.  This statistic is very concerning.  Hunger impacts the child’s academic performance, ability to concentrate, sports performance and development.  Every year we discount our services in return for your generous donations of non-perishable food items.  This year we will be donating to The Food Bank of The Rockies.

On Thursday, November 20, all scheduled new patients will receive their complete evaluation including x-rays for $50 in exchange for 10 or more non-perishable food items.  This would normally be $260.

On Friday, November 21 all existing patients will receive their adjustment at 50% off in exchange for 10 or more non-perishable food items.

Please call 303-790-6000 to schedule your appointment.  Please tell everybody you know so we can help fight hunger in Colorado this Thanksgiving.

Gait Analysis at the Kambeitz Chiropractic Gym

Runner silhouetteWe’re excited to announce a new service at our gym.  Gait Analysis.

At Kambeitz Chiropractic Health and Wellness Center P.C. gait analysis is more than just picking out the right pair of running shoes.  Troy Bacon, personal trainer has specialized in gait analysis, with results benefiting beginner to expert athletes.  Using a high-speed camera and tracking software, the strengths and weaknesses of your running and walking technique are evaluated.

At our clinic Gait Analysis consists on two sessions.  The first session, you will be recorded on the treadmill to analyze your running (or walking) form. Between sessions your video will be analyzed, identifying the greatest weaknesses that can be improved upon. The second session, your trainer will discuss the results of your gait analysis, teaching you the exercises, stretches and drills to improve your gait and performance, one step at a time. To learn more about our gait analysis service, download our Gait Analysis Flyer.

Want to learn more about gait analysis, and learn how you can benefit for this new service?  We had Troy Bacon, our personal trainer and gait expert, answer a few of the most common questions he is asked about gait analysis.  Have questions, please share them with us!

What is your background with running and athletics?

I have always from a young age been involved in athletics – baseball, basketball, football, etcetera.  In college I competed in Division 1 Track and Field for the University of Northern Iowa as a decathlete. In that time I also earned my degrees in Exercise Science and Sport Psychology.

Where did you learn about gait analysis?

The first I heard about gait analysis was in college.  I worked for a store called The Runner’s Flat that did a basic form to determine appropriate shoe-style for customers.  Our version is more in-depth and designed to help runners increase their efficiency and avoid injury.

Describe what you are looking for when analyzing a patient on the treadmill?

The key points that I will be looking for on each patient are level of pronation in the ankles – this helps determine correct shoes, dorsi-flexion – if the toe is being pulled up each stride, knee drive, foot-strike, and tempo.  Every person is different so it is possible and likely that other points will be discussed specific to the individual.

If my gait is less than perfect, what recommendations will you have for me?
(different running shoes, different footwear for work/home, orthotics, massage, chiropractic…???)

These are all great in helping with proper gait.  I will prescribe a set of exercises, stretches and drills for each person – again, specific to their needs.  These will be basic movements that can be done at home, work, etc.  In some cases I may recommend that they spend some time with me in training to correct whatever problems they may have.

How can recognizing and treating my running gait prevent injuries?

There are a number of ways it can help prevent injuries.  The first of which is having correct footwear.  Also, improper form can create muscle imbalances which may lead to a pulled or strained muscle.  Lastly, tempo (steps per minute) and foot-strike play a role in how your energy is being spent – is every stride sending a shock up the leg OR is it efficiently propelling you forward?

How will having my gait analyzed and corrections made to my stride help me achieve more in the 8WW program?

Great question!  The 8WW program is designed to help you create and maintain a healthy lifestyle well beyond your eight weeks with us.  Having the knowledge and confidence that you are working efficiently in your outside workouts is going to help these healthy habits last.

Is gait analysis only for runners?

Everybody who walks will benefit from it, especially those who spend a lot of time on their feet.  Many of us have jobs that require spending hours on end up and moving around.  Having proper footwear or orthotics plays a HUGE role in ensuring this can be done comfortably.
