As the new year approaches we would like to offer you all a challenge.  That’s right!  An 8 Weeks to Wellness Challenge to be exact.  What health goals do you have for yourself for 2016?  What plan have you created for your success?  How will you be accountable for your success?  If you don’t have answers to these questions, please join us on Tuesday, December 29th at 6:00 PM at the office to learn more.  This is an informational meeting that will inform you on what 8 Weeks to Wellness is exactly and how you can participate in the challenge.  We encourage you to bring a friend, colleague or spouse as we have found that when you have an accomplice you can achieve more success.

The CHALLENGE! – More details will be provided at this meeting regarding an 8 Weeks to Wellness Challenge. Winners of this challenge will take home some big prizes. Come and see what this meeting is about and how you can get involved.

Learn About Metabolic Syndrome

Metabolic Syndrome is estimated to be present in 34% of the adult population in the United States.  Metabolic Syndrome is diagnosed by the presence of three out of five of the following medical conditions:

  • Central obesity >40 inches in men and >35 inches in women
  • Blood pressure >130/>85mmHg
  • Fasting blood glucose >100mg/dL
  • Triglycerides >150 mg/dL
  • HDL cholesterol <40mg/dL in men and < 50mg/dL in women

You Can Always Get What you Want

When the Rolling Stones sang, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want,” they weren’t talking about 8WW.

Before new patients participate in 8WW we ask them to write down five health goals they would like to work for and achieve.  This is an important part of the program.  You have to have a reason why, written down, and easy to remind yourself, during those hot, hour long, high intensity interval workouts, coming your way within a few short weeks.

These health goals vary from patient to patient…

 “I want to reduce or stop taking my blood pressure medication.”

“I want to lose 20 pounds.”

“I want to be able to run an entire 5k.”

“I want to wear the same dress size I wore five years ago.”

Next to each item write down the reason why you want this for yourself.  It’s not just about losing 20 pounds, but how that will change your life.  Will it bring you more energy to keep up with your kids or grand kids?  Or is it to reduce and prevent diseases that run in your family, from heart disease to cancer?

When you know what you want and why you want it, each workout is just a step closer to reaching your goal and improving the quality of your life.

Over 300 lbs Lost in 8WW – in less than a year!

The doctors and staff and Kambeitz Chiropractic is proud to announce that this week, the program has surpassed another milestone – Over 300 pounds have been lost by program participants since the program launched in August 2012!

Here is the thermometer that we track the progress, as we focus on our goal of helping 8WW patients lose 1,000 lbs.

At the same time each week 8WW participants weigh in and we record their progress.

The program which combines, exercise and proper nutrition is conducive to reaching many health & wellness goals.  Some patients start the program because they don’t want chronic pains to limit their activities, others are there to lose weight, others are looking for an all encompassing program that will help them change their lifestyle.

Program participants  have ranged from all ages, body shapes and fitness goals.  We have had people from their 20s to their 70s participate.  We have had patients who only needed to lose a couple pounds to patients who wanted (and did) lose more… even 25 pounds!

And of course we want to congratulate the patients who are working hard, losing weight, and changing their lives.  It’s truly inspiring to see firsthand how patients are feeling better and reaching new accomplishments that they didn’t even expect, through 8WW!
